Located in the heart of Berkeley on the University of California’s
famous Sproul Plaza, the ASUC Martin Luther King, Junior Student Union
is an ideal location for academic and community events and conferences.
From intimate meeting rooms to the versatile Pauley Ballroom, the
MLK Student Union has facilities to meet almost any need. All of the
rooms are available for rental, and events held here range from
weddings to seminars to public conferences. Our facilities team will
meet your needs at a very reasonable price, and we will work with you
to produce a successful event.
Nearby campus attractions include Zellerbach Auditorium, one of the
premiere performing arts facilities in the Bay Area, Sather Tower (the
“Campanile”) with its impressive vistas, Memorial Stadium, home of the
Golden Bears, the John Galen Howard designed Hearst Greek Theatre, and
the world-renowned Botanical Gardens. And Oakland and San Francisco are
just minutes away by car, bus or BART.

Our Rooms
Pauley Ballroom is a 9,000 square foot open space with a hardwood floor and a 30' high ceiling. It can hold 900 for a lecture, 500 for a banquet or 700 at a time for a trade show. It is equipped with electrical power and sound systems, a 20’ x 30’ projection screen and a serving kitchen. Just outside the Ballroom is Kerr Lounge, an area ideally suited for conference registrations, exhibits or handout tables.
The Tilden room seats 100 and has a stained glass window and outside terraces with spectacular views of the Bay Area. The Black Oak room has seating for 12 around conference tables. The Douglas Fir and Chinquapin rooms seat 16 in a conference or 20 in a lecture. The East Madrone and West Madrone rooms each seat for 45 and have a door between them. The Tan Oak room seats 100 in a lecture, 51 in a classroom, and 70 in a conference. The Stephens Lounge seats 65 and has a piano, a decorative fireplace and high ceilings.
Chalk boards and projection screens are available in all rooms. Most rooms have high speed internet connections and can be set up in a variety of furniture configurations.
