The Eshleman Library and Study Lounge, located on the seventh floor of Eshleman Hall, has been revamped for fall semester. The new paint, new drapes, and new plants contribute to a productive working environment and plenty of fresh oxygen.
In a nutshell, this is one of the best study places on campus. It is the only quiet study area that allows food and drinks. Soda and snack machines are conveniently located inside, and the library is conveniently located near plenty of Southside restaurants.
It includes a reference section with English and foreign language dictionaries, study guides, encyclopedias, atlases, maps, and many other aides. Unlike other libraries, students won’t feel cut off from the rest of the world. Not only are there plenty of windows that offer a great view of Berkeley, the library also subscribes to 12 monthly magazines including Newsweek, Time, The New Yorker, Health and Wellness and The Economist, as well as six daily newspapers, including the San Francisco Chronicle and New York Times. The library also has a press stand featuring ASUC publications and copies of the minutes and agendas from all ASUC Senate meetings.
Eshleman Library is an insulated but not isolated place to study in the company of other hard working students.
The Library and Study Lounge

History
November 4, 1931 - The ASUC dedicated the first Publications Center in the original Eshleman Hall, now known as Moses Hall. The facility provided students with the equipment and resources necessary to produce and enjoy publications.
1950s - The new Student Union opened and the Publications Center and Library moved to the seventh floor of the current Eshleman Hall.
1993-1994 - The Publications Center and Library moved into Heller Lounge in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union Building, combining publications resources with a student study center.
November 8, 1999 - Eshleman Library expanded its service, from 68 hours per week to 24 hours a day. It was the only year-long 24-hour study lounge on the Berkeley campus.
2000 - The Publications Center moved back to Eshleman Hall, though the Library remained in Heller Lounge in the Student Union. It continued as a 24-hour student study lounge with a vast collection of publications resources and materials.
2004 - Eshleman Library moved back to the seventh floor of Eshleman Hall.
Our Mission: To create a student-centered environment that provides the campus community with programs, activities, services and facilities that extend student learning beyond the classroom.
